Capital City Scooter Club: Saltspring Island Campout!

We left from Hillside mall in Victoria and took the backroads out to the ferry. Unfortunately the bikes weren't playing fair this trip. Gemma's V90 didn't want her on it, my bike cracked the selector arm, my brother's bike was having ignition probs and Jarrod's new exhaust was burning all the plastic off his bike and falling apart. I was forced to rent a Yamaha BW's R, but that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
I caught this guy staring at the bikes. He knew.
After a stop at Moby's restaurant, which had the best damned nachos EVER, I went to the rentals place and picked up a rental scoot while mine was debilitated. I rode back and got my camera and met up with the group at mount maxwell. I got the little BW's up to 90 km/h. I want one BAD now :)
After a brief, but treacherous ride, I got to the top of the mountain to find everyone's bike neatly parked in the lot. I was told that my brother had fallen off his bike going up the hill. We had finished that bike like a day before we left for the trip and now it was banged up. SWEET! :P
The view on Mt. Maxwell was worth the trip. It was a gorgeous day and evening as settling across the Haro strait. We could see for miles around.
Chillin on the mountain and sharing stories, mad this just a cool place to sit and reflect. This is what camping is all about.
This is the BW's R I rented. it was fun riding toy, indeed. I loved the disc brake. The thing could stop on a dime. If you're on an island forced to rent a scoot, make it one of these bad boys.
As sunset approached, we set up the tents and broke out the camp fuel to get a fire going. We were alotted a beautiful camping space overlooking the water in Ruckle park. It was warm well into the evening, but the temperature dropped off sharply at night.
With our gear set for a weird night's sleep (thanks to the BoBo's), we gathered around the fire. After eating began drinking. And drink they did. I wasn't too into that scene, so I went to bed after about 4 hot dogs and a myriad of marshmallows.
Next year, I hope to have a working ride to tackle all the fun! It was a great time apart from a few broken bikes. It was a lesson in what can go wrong. The camping part was just as I had remembered it as a kid. Thanks to everyone for the great time.
